Benefits of showing your work

Truth is, showing your work can be scary. Our best works are windows to our souls, and you might feel opening yourself to everybody makes you vulnerable. Or you might feel your work is not-good-enough and fear other’s people judgment.

But there are so many advantages to putting on an exhibition that, if you are an advanced artist, I encourage you to take the leap and do it. (and I am not talking about the obvious – like the possibility to sell your art)

First, seeing your works together in a venue (other than your studio) will make you see it differently and understand better what it is all about (and where you want to go next). Some artists say that the painting becomes alive only when you show it.

I agree that showing your works might feel like opening up a bit too much and becoming vulnerable, but this is also a chance for people to connect to your art. Something you think of as (too) personal is always (very) human. With that, you can touch another person’s soul. People are looking for that kind of connection and love them. So you feel connected, too.

A show is a great motivation for you to go on painting. It can be wonderful to be in the flow and paint, but it can be pretty lonely, too. So give yourself the benefit of exposure!

I could go on like this for a while. But all in all – exhibiting your work gives you more creative confidence.

Hope this inspires you;)
