Therapists and Painting

My clients come from a multitude of different professions. As many professions as people, I used to say.

Until lately, when so many therapists came into my world.

I didn’t realize it at first cause I usually don’t ask people about their jobs. But after painting in my classes for a while, people sometimes drop a line or two about their jobs. And this is how I realized I have so many therapists for clients I could make a therapists-only group!

(If some of you, dears, read this – don’t worry, I won’t;)

I wondered why, and an old Volkswagen TV commercial* helped me find an answer.

*(it’s an old Volkswagen TV commercial that shows somebody driving a Beetle in the heavy snow. After the man finally arrives at the snow plow, the voice-over says: “Have you ever wondered how the man who drives the snow plow comes to the snow plow? This one drives a Volkswagen.”)

To become therapists, besides studying, they first have to have a certain number of hours of personal therapy where they confront heavy stuff of their own.  After being certified, they have therapy sessions with their clients and meet with supervisors regularly. They work daily with fears, traumas, phobias, and whatever their clients have to process. Most of the content is heavy, and in years it adds up to a lot…

No wonder that at the end of the day, they need something therapeutic – other than therapy.

So paraphrasing the old Beetle commercial: have you ever wondered what therapists do for therapy? These ones make art:)

If art is your therapy, my friend, enjoy it. (therapist or not)

Hi, I’m Vera …

I help courageous women who want to live better lives reconnect with their inner artists and express themselves through the arts.

Whether they are beginners or experienced creatives who feel drained or stuck, teaching them to open themselves to painting, I help them feel relaxed, fulfilled, focused, ageless and alive!

I am also the founder of the Rabbit the Creator studio (based in Ljubljana, Slovenia/ Europe) and have more than 25 years of experience working as an artist, creative director, and educator.
